Grand Rapids, MI – September 23, 2021 – World-renowned health system, Geisinger, has selected eVideon, a leader in interactive patient engagement and digital workflow solutions, to transform the care experience for patients, families and caregivers. This initiative, spearheaded by Geisinger’s Steele Institute for Health Innovation, partners eVideon with Geisinger’s Digital Transformation Office to support its multiyear digital transformation program. Specifically, the team will deploy a bi-directional, collaborative, and interactive digital whiteboard in the inpatient setting that will inform and update the patient, family, and the care team during the hospital stay.

Today, hospitalized patients are surrounded by millions of dollars of technology, yet the archaic dry erase board still remains, requiring a highly manual process with no standardization or real-time information. Geisinger’s initiative aims to replace the dry erase board with digital whiteboards that display real-time health information for patients and families to improve care coordination and patient satisfaction. This centralized information hub will be accessible to the patient, family, and care team across connected devices. To achieve this, Geisinger will combine the power of eVideon’s Insight digital whiteboard and Engage TV to create a multi-purpose device that will scale across the enterprise to deliver a comprehensive digital care experience. The deployment will begin in targeted areas across Geisinger’s pediatric, critical access, and community hospitals.

“Last year, we launched an initiative to harness best-in-class technology solutions and innovation from the digital health ecosystem to transform the patient and caregiver experience,” said Rebecca A. Stametz, DEd, MPH, Vice President of Digital Transformation, Steele Institute for Health Innovation, Digital Transformation Office, Geisinger. “Our search brought us to eVideon; a perfect partner for us due to the team’s enterprise-level experience and ability to work with an integrated health system with multi-site platforms and diverse inpatient populations. With eVideon, we will be able to augment our existing IT systems, driving more value from our EMR and other investments.”

This initiative is unique in that eVideon and Geisinger are working together to innovate a solution that wraps the elements of a whiteboard around a TV, creating a combination digital whiteboard and interactive TV unlike any other available market offering. The solution will:

  • Provide consistent, accurate and real-time information in a simple, accessible and user-friendly platform
  • Offer messaging and communication capabilities to streamline and simplify interactions between the patient, family caregivers and care team while improving communication about the hospital stay
  • Provide inpatients with personalized health information and educational content

“Our partnership with Geisinger not only speaks to the quality of our team and our technology, but it also highlights the universal value of eVideon’s offerings,” said Jeff Fallon, CEO, eVideon. “Forward-thinking organizations like Geisinger understand the importance of digital tools for advancing their patient engagement and consumerism initiatives. Prioritizing concepts like the digital front door and enhancing the virtual touch-points between the patient and the organization, will help Geisinger to continue to differentiate itself as a market leader and innovator.”
