We're excited to welcome Shea Smith to the Vibe Health team as our National Projects Director where she will be a key member of our Client Success Team!
Shea has served in the healthcare industry her entire career, having previously worked at NRC Health, Littleton Adventist Hospital and most recently UCHealth where she was the Manager of Experience Innovation and Best Practice. Shea has a passion for digital technology and a desire to think differently to create the best experience for patients, families, and staff. At UCHealth she successfully implemented and managed projects that included piloting a digital patient whiteboard solution, growing the virtual reality program, and executing a mobile food ordering app for employees and guests.
We sat down with Shea to learn more about her background and hobbies, and, in keeping with our tradition... learning whether she favors coffee or tea!
Q. Tell us a little about yourself:
My family and I recently moved to Bellingham, Washington after residing in Denver, Colorado for nine years. My husband Connor and I have two children, ages 6 and 3, and we are excited to welcome a third child to the party in March 2023!
Q. Given your experience designing and deploying emerging technology inside the hospital environment, what advice might you give to fellow healthcare professionals evaluating or preparing for anew technology project?
Keep it simple. Think outside of the healthcare industry. Healthcare has a lot of opportunity. We should look at out-of-industry practices and how they could be implemented in the healthcare setting.
Start with empathy and design from the patient and family experience. Integrate where you can into existing clinician and multidisciplinary staff workflows. Healthcare professionals are depending on us to streamline and automate their work so that they can fulfill their purpose of delivering extraordinary care to patients.
Q. What excites you about joining the Vibe Health team at eVideon?
The people – Their expertise and passion in how they design, build, customize, and integrate their products from the end-user perspective for clients is exciting and refreshing.
Q. What can you be found doing when you’re not in the office?
I can be found in the mountains– backpacking, camping or snowboarding with my family – we love spending time outdoors!
Q. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? How has that changed or stayed the same?
I wanted to be a fashion journalist when I was little. I grew up with parents who worked in healthcare and I personally experienced and observed the burdens and challenges they faced working in the industry. Mid-college I changed my career path to design and build better healthcare experiences.
Q. What’s your favorite food?
Q. Where is the one place you’d like to visit?
Q. Are you a coffee or tea drinker? Do you have a favorite place to enjoy a cup?
Coffee drinker. My husband is my personal barista and I enjoy a cup at home!
