Live Video Streaming

All eVideon solutions are purely Internet Protocol (IP) and Ethernet based -- end-to-end -- often referred to as IPTV.  Another name for this revolution in communications is "convergence".  Convergence means that traditionally analog services have moved onto the computer network.  To a computer network, everything is digital, and the modern networks of today can transmit any digital data, whether it is email, intant messaging, phone calls, or streaming video, with precision and guarantees like no previous analog technology could possibly do.  IPTV is the future, and it has already arrived in robust fashion.

Streaming Scenarios

In your school district...

you want to make relevant TV channels available to your teachers and students.  Instructors need to be able to access Live TV stations directly from their computer without any special TV card or cabling.  A subset of TV channels needs to be avalable on TVs in the cafeteria.  These scenarios and more can be accomplished with an eVideon education solution.

In your hospital...

you want the exact same high quality viewing in every patient room, every waiting room, and at every dialysis and chemotherapy station.  You want custom TV lineup options for each individual patient based on age, diagnosis and even preference.  You want all channel assignments to happen automatically based on HL7 information.  With an eVideon solution, these elegant workflows are the natural outpouring of our flexible design.

In your University...

you want to eliminate the need for RF (coaxial) cabling in your new dorm.  You want your instructors to be able to access TV channels right from their computer, and you want to stream lectures live as a TV channel, with permission based access.  You want your on campus students to be able to watch TV, and to access educational media on demand from the same reliable system.  eVideon is the heart of your streaming solution.

What is Streaming?

A stream is a TV channel that is on the computer network.  Anywhere you can plug into the local computer network, you can access the streams.  You can think of a stream as sort of like a traditional TV channel, but the enabling technologies are very different on the back-end.  Streaming does not have the same limitations that traditional analog transmission has.

Each channel is accessed from a channel list that is defined using a simple web browser interface.  Channels are accessed and viewed from a TV, using a Set Top Box (STB), or from a standard web browser.  You can determine who has access to which streams, and what time of day these streams are available.

  • A stream may be a satellite/cable TV channel, using IP video encoders
  • It may also be a collection of video segments (files) that were previously recorded and will now be made into a custom program -- your own channel or channels! For example it may be highlights from the Friday night football game, daily announcements, cafeteria menus, a message from the superintendent or a Hospital CEO.  (using the eVideon VOD Server)

eVideon solutions have always been crafted to utilize "best of breed" technologies, remaining "agnostic" to hardware platforms, and giving the customer the flexibility to incorporate all the right components for their desired outcomes.  Of course we have preferred streaming partners based on proven track records of stellar performance and value.  So, an eVideon solution can be turn-key, where we provide every piece of technology from end-to-end, or we can be the centerpiece of your solution, working with your existing or preferred streaming technologies.
