Network Video Recording (NVR)

eVideon is unique in that is has NVR capabilities built in - out of the box so to speak.  No other solution offers this much functionality in their base product.  If you don't know what NVR is, or what powerful functionality it gives you, please read on.

When you record an important video event, such as a lecture, a clinical session, a board meeting, or a TV program to be used in your lesson plan, there are several important desirable traits to consider.  These traits fall into the categories of Time, Space, and Accessibility.

Time

We may not be Einsteins, but we too can talk about space and time, and the warp and woof of the fabric we call NVR.  In fact, Einstein might find rather interesting the practical steps we've taken in our present day do divest ourselves of some of the inherent restrictions that time and space can place on us mere mortals.

It used to be that one had to watch a TV program exactly when it "aired", or else it was missed.  Then came the VCR, which was great for catching up on missed programs, but it was still had a lot of limitations.  Then came TiVo, or timeshift TV, which radically changed peoples viewing habits.

In an eVideon solution, network video is recorded in a centralized location, on the network, rather than at each end TV or computer.  This is to avoid duplicate recordings and centralized access to the recordings.  One can schedule a recording to occur once, or on a recurrance schedule.

eVideon makes it easy to watch what you want when you want.

Space

After you have recorded a program through the simple eVideon web interface, it is available to you wherever you want to watch it (or listen to it if it is an audio recording).  Depending on you situation, eVideon can be configured to automatically transcode media for additional video formats in order to prepare that content for lower badwidth access (Internet), or for download to an iPod.

eVideon makes it easy to watch what you want where you want.

Accessibility

Not all media is created equal.  When a video is scheduled for recording, all relevent information about that video (metadata) can be added at that time.  That way, once the recording ic complete, there is no further user interaction needed - other than to watch the video!  All metadata is searchable, either with a simple keyword search, or with more advanced criteria.

Also at the time of scheduling a recording, the video is allocated to a collection that determines access rights.  This way content can be restricted before it is even created.  If you have rights to the collection, you will have access to the recording when it is complete.

eVideon makes it easy to find what you want.
