The eVideon Healthcare™ story began in 2005 when Metro Health Hospital broke ground on a new facility near Grand Rapids, Michigan. From the start, the Metro Health technology group had a strong intuition that new advances in digital media could be leveraged to greatly enhance the patient’s bedside experience. They were frustrated, however, when they found out how far the healthcare industry had fallen behind recent innovations.
Meanwhile our company, Optimal Solutions, had a mature product for managing and delivering digital media to educational customers. From the planning stages through early construction, Metro Health invited comments and suggestions from the professional community. Through subsequent talks, it soon became apparent that Optimal Solutions and Metro Health shared a vision of improving patient care with media technology delivered over the IP network.
A Partnership Formed
More extensive dialogs led to a partnership between our organizations that served as a unique catalyst to product development. Optimal Solutions applied our extensive background in software development, video technology, and network infrastructure to provide the technological know-how. Metro Health provided continual feedback in terms of the product’s scope, relevance, and usability. Together we steered a course that combined cutting-edge media technology with industry standard platforms to design a next-generation media solution that would fit naturally into the Healthcare IT ecosystem.
